How to report a claim without delaying the payout
One scenario for MTPL, CASCO and travel: record, notify on time, send a complete file and keep calm correspondence. A checklist you can save on your phone.
Claims handling is not magic and not a lottery. It is a process with inputs. If the inputs are complete and on time, the case moves. If there are no photos, the call waited “until there was time”, and receipts are crumpled, the process turns into months of mail.
A common frame for any product
- people’s safety at the scene
- photos and video before anything is moved
- notice to the insurer / assistance within the contract deadline
- a written case number
- documents as one pack, not one file a day
MTPL and CASCO
An accident needs a diagram, the other party’s details, a police report or a European statement. CASCO also needs a vehicle inspection. Do not repair before inspection. Do not agree a private sum if you want an official payout: the insurer assesses by its own methods.
Travel
Assistance runs the case. Your job is to stay reachable, follow the referral and keep papers. If a clinic asks for payment, ask assistance whether it is a deductible or a guarantee glitch.
Communication that speeds things up
Write briefly: case number, what you attach, the question. Call when the reply deadline has passed, not every hour. Keep operator names. If they ask for the same document again — send it and mention the previous date.
Do not replace a claim with an emotional post. Social media does not open a reserve. A complete file and deadlines do. Save this checklist — it is cheaper than any “fast payout” in an advert.
